When You Buy New Jersey Car Insurance

When you buy new jersey car insurance it is not cheap.  If your driving record is less than ideal, it can even cost more.  Several drivers carry the weight of having to pay higher premiums when other people choose to defy the law and operate a car without any insurance. It can be extremely dangerous to drive without insurance. There are consequences to pay when you are caught driving without any car insurance. Some people feel they will only get a simple insignificant punishment and therefore get away with it.  It is important to understand the possible consequences of driving an automobile without insurance before you make a decision to risk it all.

DMV Reporting

Insurance companies in New Jersey by electronic means inform the D.M.V. when a person’s car insurance lapses or is cancelled.  The Department of Motor vehicles then sends you a notice telling you to verify them with proof of insurance within thirty days to stop your registration from suspension.  If you do not reply, your car registration will be placed in suspension. To remove this suspension you must pay a fee to have it reinstated and provide proof of car insurance. The fee can be quite high and can vary.

Driving Violations

If you stopped by a police officer for a driving infraction, you must show the officer proof of new jersey car insurance while stopped. If you are without insurance, the police officer can give you a citation or tow away your car. Many police officers will give a citation for a person’s first offense. If you have a previous driving record of operating a car without insurance, the police officer can take you into custody or impound your automobile. Ask yourself this question; is it worthwhile to go to jail just to evade paying car insurance premiums? Even if you are fortunate to not go to jail you will still have costly impound charges to pay to get your car from where it was towed.

Court Judgments

Once you receive a citation, you must appear to answer to a judge in court. Verification of car insurance is necessary to show to the court at your court appearance. The judge will access a fine for driving without insurance for you to pay along with possible jail time or a license suspension if you have been caught multiple times before driving with no insurance. An SR-22 may be on your insurance policy and it can become rather expensive.

Driving with no car insurance can result in you paying much more than paying for your insurance payments. Imagine just one ticket can cost you more than a $1000.00. The state's bare minimum coverage’s on new jersey car insurance auto policies will please the state’s mandatory laws.
